Precautions

All sensors and cables are designed to work with specific monitors. Before use, monitor, lead wires, and sensors should be checked for compatibility, failure to do so could result in degraded performance and/or patient injury.

The monitoring site must be checked frequently or as clinically required to ensure that the adhesive is firmly adhered, blood circulation is good, the skin is intact and the sensor is properly optically aligned.

Caution should be exercised when using the sensor in hypoperfused patients and it is important to move the sensor frequently to avoid skin erosion and compressive tissue necrosis in the patient. In hypoperfused patients, the monitoring site should be checked at least hourly and the sensor should be moved if signs of tissue ischemia are present.

Do not use adhesive tape to fix the sensor and the detection site, otherwise the blood flow may be blocked, resulting in inaccurate readings. Using excess tape can also damage the skin and/or cause pressure necrosis, or damage the sensor.
